Özet: Eşitlik kavramının kökleri matematiksel olsa da sosyal bilimlerde, özellikle hukuk ve siyaset felsefesi alanlarında merkezi bir anlamı vardır. Eşitlik yerine geçebilecek terimler arasında denge, ayrımcılık yapmama, ortak statü, hakların eşitliği gibi kavramlar yer alsa da “eşitlik” kavramı sembolik bir nitelik kazanmıştır. Fransız İhtilali’nden modern anayasalara kadar pek çok hukuki ve siyasi metinde önemli bir yere sahip olan bu kavramın ön plana çıkmasının temellerini incelemek bu çalışmanın temel amacını oluşturmaktadır. Pisagor gibi öncülerin insan biyolojisi, mitoloji, sayılar  ve metafizik anlamlar arasındaki etkileşim ve kozmopolit ütopyalara bakış açılarını ve felsefeyi günlük yaşamla ilişkilendiren post-Sokratik filozofları keşfederek eşitlik kavramının temellerine ışık tutmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda, geçmişte ortaya çıkan dersler ve bu derslerin işlendiği dönemlerin sosyo-politik koşulları hakkında kısa bir değerlendirme yapılarak eşitlik kavramının doğuşu ve gelişimi irdelenerek akademik bir özet sunulmaktadır.

THE ARISTOTELIAN CONCEPT OF OF EQUALITY AND ITS ANTECEDENTS

Abstract: Although the concept of equality has mathematical roots, it has a central meaning in the social sciences, especially in the fields of jurisprudence and political philosophy. Although there are terms such as balance, non-discrimination, common status, equality of rights among the terms that can replace equality, the concept of "equality" holds a symbolic distinction. The main purpose of this study is to examine the foundations of this concept, which has a significant role in many legal and political texts from the French Revolution to modern constitutions. It aims to shed light on the foundations of the concept of equality by exploring the perspectives of pioneers such as Pythagoras on human biology, mythology, the interaction between numbers and metaphysical meanings and cosmopolitan utopias, and post-Socratic philosophers who associate philosophy with daily life. In this context, a brief evaluation is made about the experiences in past eras and the socio-political conditions of the periods in which these experiences, and an academic summary is presented to examine the birth and development of the concept of equality.
